Ever since a group of students posted a “Gay Pride is Power” sign during the 1970 University of Iowa Homecoming Parade, LGBTQ Pride has been a part of Iowa City. Please join Iowa City Pride in keeping this rich tradition of open-mindedness and diversity growing stronger every year.
Iowa City Pride is the longest-running public celebration of Pride in Iowa and is thought to be the second-oldest Pride celebration nationwide, kicking off one year after the 1969 Stonewall riots that gave birth to gay pride.
The 48th Annual Iowa City Pride Festival & Parade is coming June 15-17 in downtown Iowa City. We’re building Iowa City Pride to be larger, more diverse, and more meaningful than ever. Watch for more year-round events, and join our effort as a volunteer, or sponsor.
